dc.description.abstract | Background The cognitive functions of children emerge through the development of brain neuron. The relationship between attention and low academic performance is observed in school students .To assess the immediate effect of 11 min of Bhrämari präëäyäma, deep breathing and control session on time taken and the accuracy of DVT on school children. Subjects: Sixty one students(28 males,33 females) adolescent students in a age range of 12 to 16 years(Mean± SD,13.25± 1.06, ) for experimental conditions(Bhrämari präëäyäma and deep breathing) and control group students(27 females,25 males) in the age range of 12 to 16 years (Mean± SD,13.40± 1.05) were participated in this study. Method This was a randomized self as control within-subjects design. Assessments were done immediately before and after experimental and control sessions of 11 minutes by using Digit Vigilance Test (DVT). Results The Bhrämari and Deep breathing showed a statistically significant decrease of time in the DVT 9.59% versus 7.97% (p<0.01, paired-samples t test). Further error showed a statistically significant decrease of 61.72% and 47.58%, on Bhrämari and deep breathing (p<0.01, Wilcoxon signed-rank test). The control group showed a statistically significant increase in the time 14.08% (p<0.01, paired-samples t test) and error -36.36% in DVT (p<0.01, Wilcoxon signed-rank test). Conclusion Bhrämari präëäyäma and deep breathing is an effective means for improving attention performance on school children. This can potentially be implemented within an entire classroom easily.
