Lunar phases have proven conclusive effects on outcomes of pregnancy. Studies have shown conception on a 'full moon' day result in a male infant and that on a 'no moon' day results in a female infant. It is common belief that the delivery during inauspicious time of the day (Rahukalam) could have deleterious effects on pregnancy outcome although there are no scriptural references to this. The present study was designed to look at the effects of specific time periods or kalams on pregnancy outcomes.en_US
