Abstract: | Background: Social adjustment is sconsidered as significant aspect in adolescence. It’s associate with the factors to fulfill physiological, psychological and social needs to live in community rather than alone. According to studies show that yoga programs are found to be effective in improving the social emotional aspects in adolescence. Aim: To examine the effect of yoga in Social Adjustment in Adolescence. Objective: The Objectives are the present study were to, assess the effect of yoga on •Outside work, •House work, •Social and leisure, •Extended family and •Family unit in adolescence. Methodology: A single group pre-post design was used in two week yoga program at a co-ed School using Social adjustment scale (SAS – M). The intervention consisted yoga program comprised of Opening prayer, Sukasma vayama, Loosening exercise, Surya namaskar, asana (physical postures), relaxation technique, Om chanting, Question and answer, Closing Prayer. Result: After the yoga practice there is a significant change (p<0.05) in the social adjustment levels in adolescents. Conclusion: This study demonstrated the impact of Yoga practices in improving Emotional, social and academic adjustment in adolescence. Hence yoga can be suggested for management of overall well-being in adolescents. |
